Samsung is building a new semiconductor manufacturing complex in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, to meet growing demand for memory. Three fabs already operate around the clock, and a fourth is coming online.
Generative AI models run on powerful chips known as GPUs, which depend on stacks of specialized memory chips packaged with the processor. To meet this demand, Samsung is investing in the construction of this new complex.
This new infrastructure will enable the production of high-quality memory chips, which will be beneficial for creators and designers who use these chips to develop AI applications.
